Visitors to this weekend’s Big Red Apple Festival in Cornelia can enjoy a first-of-its-kind event. The Habersham County Historical Society in conjunction with the student group HoPE will host Habersham’s first Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration.
The event will feature a day full of music and a variety of food celebrating Habersham’s diverse Hispanic heritage.
“We have people from Mexico as well as Venezuela, Guatemala, Panama, Peru, Columbia, and other Latin America countries,” says planning committee member Silvia Corwin. “The festival will give representation for the first time to all these groups.”
The event will be held at the Cornelia Skate Park from 10 a.m. until around 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 24. The park is located next door to the Historical Society office at 353 Chattahoochee Street, behind the Cornelia Library.
