The Habersham County United Way will host a day of fun and music in downtown Cornelia on Saturday, August 6, to kick off its annual fundraising campaign. The daylong event, will take place from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at various locations in the historic district.
The kickoff kicks off with an axe throwing tournament at 10 a.m. at the Axe Armory downtown (click here to register).
From 12-5 p.m. there will be kids’ games and other activities set up next to the Cornelia Splash Pad & Train Depot.
From 5-9 p.m., music will fill the night air from the stage at Fender’s Alley. The performers lined up for this event include:
5-6 pm: Hunter Rose
6-7 pm: Reese Watson
7-9 pm: Under The Wheel performing
“The main goal of this event is to raise awareness of what United Way is doing in the community and highlight our agency partners,” says Habersham United Way Executive Director Candice Holcomb.
Those who want to enjoy the music and soak up the atmosphere may make table reservations for Fender’s Alley or set up lawn chairs in the adjacent green space.
This year’s United Way fundraising goal is $600,000. The organization supports the following 24 area nonprofits:
