Trey Wood, Finance Director for Habersham County, has provided the latest quarterly report for Habersham’s Special Purpose Local-Option Sales Tax (SPLOST VI), and recently presented the findings to Habersham County Commissioners.

The report shows the total state distribution to Habersham County from April 2015, through the end of June 2015, to be $ 1,315,680. That’s an average of about $438,000 per month for local municipalities and Habersham Hospital Bonds.

The largest SPLOST VI municipal collection went to the City of Cornelia with a payment of just over $173,000. Over $60,000 was distributed to the cities of Baldwin and Clarkesville. The City of Demorest was provided with about $44,000, with Mt. Airy just behind that, with almost $ 31,000. Over $15,000 was distributed to Mt. Airy, and Tallulah Falls received about $9,600.

In addition to the seven municipalities in Habersham County, over $263,000 went to Habersham Hospital Bonds, and the largest distribution was to Habersham County government, with over $ 654,000, almost half of the total SPLOST distribution. Habersham County Finance Director Trey Wood made the announcement in a short Habersham County Commissioner meeting August 17.

SPLOST IV revenues are a significant monthly funding source for Habersham County, our local hospital and the seven cities within the county. SPLOST funds are primarily used for capital financing for building parks, schools, roads and other public facilities and projects.
