The Raiders and Lady Raiders have a combined four wins heading into their brief respite before diving into region play.
Chalk it up to tough out-of-region slates for both teams. The Raiders (2-4) have suffered three one-goal losses on the season. Coach Ric Wallace has put together perhaps the state’s most difficult non-region schedule, as the Raiders have played #7 North Oconee (L 0-1), #6 Norcross (L 2-3), #3 Johnson (L 0-2) and #9 Oconee County (L 2-3).
Even White County is a team that last season made a deep playoff run and lies just outside the rankings. That should set the boys up to be more than competitive in the region part of the schedule.
The Lady Raiders (2-1-2) have fared well, even adding a 6-1 win over Jackson County in a non-counting scrimmage to open the season. The girls blew past Stephens County 9-0 February 15 and Central Gwinnett 3-0 February 24. Habersham girls play next at Lanier on March 3, while the Raiders are back to the pitch on March 7 at home against Gainesville.
