Habersham County Schools will operate on a regular schedule on Friday, Jan. 17, according to Superintendent Matthew Cooper.
Rabun County Schools will have another Virtual Learning Day on Friday.
“After checking bus routes today, we found that 58% of our bus routes are still unsafe for school buses or student drivers,” the Rabun County School District said on Thursday.
With temperatures expected to drop below freezing again Thursday night road conditions are not expected to improve. School officials determined it would be safer to finish out this week with another online learning day. Rabun County schools have been closed since last Friday, Jan. 10.
“While we understand the importance of having students in school, their safety remains our top priority,” the school district said.
All Rabun County School employees should report to work at 10 a.m. or as soon as it is safe to do so.

Towns County students will also have another day of online learning on Friday.
In neighboring Union County, schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Jan. 17, but students will not be required to attend class. Due to ongoing road safety concerns, it is an “optional attendance day.”
School officials said that 24 of the county’s 28 bus routes are still impacted by ice. Buses will not run in Union County on Friday, and students will not be required to attend class.
“Schools will, however, be open on a two-hour delay and release at the regular dismissal time to support families who can transport themselves safely,” the school district said.
As a reminder, schools and offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20, for Martin Luther King Day.
