Habersham County is getting ready for its annual Relay for Life. This year’s event will be held at the Habersham County Fairgrounds on Saturday, November 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m..
Relay for Life is an annual fundraising event for the American Cancer Society that brings together cancer survivors and supporters.
It will be a fun-filled day of food, vendors, and games. There are over 30 vendors signed up for the event, according to the Habersham Relay for Life organizer Teresa Mans.
Schedule of events
At 10:30 a.m., Northeast Georgia Health System’s Director of Oncology Michele Fortner will speak to those in attendance.
There will be a survivors, current cancer fighters, caregivers, and a memory walk that will begin at 11 a.m.
A cake walk will begin at 12 p.m. A silent auction will take place throughout the day.
Those that attend Relay for Life can dedicate a luminaria to a lost loved one, someone currently battling, or anyone who has overcome cancer. Luminarias will be available for purchase for $5 each.
This year’s goal is to raise $15,000 for the American Cancer Society.
