Four teams made the tournament out of the Mountain League, and Habersham Middle School has posted a perfect 13-0 record to date.
“The girls have played well and have worked really hard this season,” says head coach Adam Banks. “We are proud of them.”
Habersham’s 13-game win streak has included two previous wins over Banks County (11-2 and 3-2). The girls have beaten Union County three times, White County twice, Lumpkin County twice and Hart County twice, as well as beating Rabun twice.
Over the course of the season, Habersham Middle School has outscored opponents by a mind-blowing total of 124-19. This includes six games in which Habersham scored more than 11 runs. The largest offensive output this season was a 21-2 win over Rabun. Only two games have been decided by three runs or less, with Habersham beating Lumpkin 5-2 and Banks 3-2.
Habersham opened the current tournament with an 8-0 shutout win over Union. Below is the roster for the Habersham Middle School team, which features a sixth grader, three seventh graders and eight eighth graders:
