Habersham, Helen to hold Christmas parades this weekend

Christmas celebrations also scheduled in Clarkesville and Cornelia

If you missed the Christmas parades in Cleveland, Clayton, Gainesville, and Toccoa last weekend, you still have a chance to get in on the act. Habersham County and Helen will host their Christmas parades this weekend.

Both parades are scheduled for Saturday, December 14 but their times are staggered so, if you’re really in the parade watching mood, you can do like Santa and attend both.

The 2019 Helen Christmas Parade will be from 2-3 p.m. in downtown Helen. There will be costumed characters, floats and, of course, Santa Claus. This year is the golden anniversary of the Helen Christmas parade. It began 50 years ago and is a tradition that draws large crowds to the small Alpine-themed village each year.

Parking is limited so be sure to get there early.

After you’ve enjoyed the Helen parade, you can drive 21 miles south to Baldwin for the Habersham County Christmas Parade. This year’s theme is “A Hometown Christmas.” There will be a tree lighting following the parade at 7:30 p.m.
