Habersham firefighters respond to ‘out of control’ burn

Habersham County Emergency Services responded to a call of a controlled burn that had gotten out of control in Mt. Airy on Sunday, Dec. 8.

Cornelia’s Fire Department oversaw the burn on Grandview Avenue near Fifth Street before the flames spread into kudzu and potentially threatened structures, according to officials.

The blaze was first contained, then extinguished.

The incident was resolved just before 4 p.m.

The town of Mt. Airy contracts with Cornelia Fire Department for fire protection inside
the town’s limits.
