After weeks of slow turnout for early voting, Habersham’s busiest voting location, the Habersham North Precinct located at the Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center, reported a much higher turnout than they were expecting.
“[Voter turnout] today has been a lot larger than we were anticipating,” Habersham North Poll Manager Steve Lindley says. “The three weeks of early voting was a little bit on the slow side, and so we were thinking that might be the way today [election day] would go, but turnout has been extremely good based on what we were expecting, so we’re pleased.”
Lindley says election day has gone smoothly, with very few issues. He says the most common issue today was voters being unclear about which voting precinct to report to, but Lindley says these issues were fixed when they happened, and voters were able to get to their assigned voting locations.
“Machines have worked well, the process has been good, it’s been a good procedure this year,” Lindley says.
