A call for new lifeguards at the Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center comes this week from the Habersham County Recreation Department. According to Director Fenton Morris they need to hire part-time help “ASAP.”
The two pools at the center on Hwy 17 underwent renovations last year as part of about $300,000 worth of work at the building. It was the largest repair effort since the facility opened in 2001. Money for the fix came from the county’s penny tax (SPLOST).
Morris is advertising for lifeguards to work shifts, Monday-Friday from 6AM till 4PM and Saturdays 7:45AM till 3PM. In addition to folks exercising in the pool and those who just swim for fun, Ruby Fullbright is home to four swim teams: Habersham Central, Tallulah Falls, Habersham Rapids and Habersham Hurricanes.
Applicants for the open lifeguard positions must be at least 16 years old and must have Red Cross Lifeguard certification as well as certified training in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Standard First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillator training. The job pays $8.39 and they’re looking for folks who can start right away.
If you’re interested and qualified, contact Fenton Morris at Habersham County Parks, Recreation & Aquatic Center (706) 839-0231 or email at [email protected].
You can get an application at the Habersham County Courthouse or on-line at www.habershamga.com under “employment.”
