Habersham County searching for new FBO for county airport

Blue Sky Flight Services is ending its role as Fixed Base Operator at the Habersham County Airport. On January 27, the flight service notified county officials it will be ending its services effective February 28.

According to county public information officer Carolyn Gibson, the county is reviewing its options with the Habersham Airport Authority and airport consultant Lead Edge Design Group. “Concerns such as staffing, and operations will be discussed, and a proactive plan will be developed,” Gibson says.

“We would like to thank Blue Sky Flight Services for their service as a Fixed Base Operator,” says County Manager Alicia Vaughn. In a news release issued on January 31, Vaughn says she’s looking forward to assessing the airport and recruiting the “best Fixed Base Operator for Habersham County.”

According to the 2020 Georgia Statewide Airport Economic Impact Study, the Habersham County Airport is responsible for a total economic output of $11,959,600 generating nearly $447,000 in state and local sales tax revenue.
