After an unexpected day off from school Tuesday due to severe weather, Habersham County School administrators have announced the system will operate on a 2-hour delay Wednesday, Jan. 10.
“We have some roads closed due to flooding and downed trees, but the county is doing a good job of getting them reopened,” says School Superintendent Matthew Cooper.
Although the weather has calmed down and the storm system has passed, there is still a chance for wind gusts in the morning that could cause trees to topple in the wet soil.
“Our transportation department has asked for a two-hour delay. This will allow bus drivers to see downed trees or power lines in the daylight, as well as washed-out areas of dirt roads,” Cooper says.
