Habersham County had a lower than expected voter turnout for Tuesday’s primary election. Election Superintendent Laurel Ellison had predicted turnout might reach as high as 50% given the large number of local races on the ballot. But just over 40% of the county’s 18,621 active registered voters participated.
In Habersham County 7,497 votes were cast between May 2 and May 24. The majority of those votes – 4,347 – were cast early while 3,150 voters showed up at the polls during Tuesday’s general primary election.
