Habersham County opens storm debris drop off sites

To help speed up cleanup efforts in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Irma, Habersham County is opening three drop off sites for storm debris.

The county announced the move on its website. The debris drop off sites are as follows:

Signage will be available at all three locations.  These sites will be for residential debris only, not for household garbage.

County Clerk Lindsay Underwood says bagged leaves and plastic will not be accepted. “Only brush, limbs, and other debris like that are being accepted,” she explains.

Additionally, no ommercial debris is being accepted at these locations. The county says commercial violators will be prosecuted.

Days and hours of operation

These sites will open Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from Noon until 7 p.m. each day through Saturday and will remain open through Saturday, September 30, 2017 until 7 p.m.

All locations will be closed Sunday and Monday.

Commercial users may use the County Landfill located at 4900 Dicks Hill Parkway, Mt. Airy, GA  30563 during normal hours.
