UPDATE Habersham County man’s death investigated

Preliminary autopsy results indicate a Habersham County man who was found dead inside a chicken house died of natural causes.

52-year old Charles Ernest Hamilton was found late Thursday night in a chicken house on Chaslyn Drive off of Sam Bell Road near Clarkesville.

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 10:45 p.m. after dispatch received a 911 call.

Authorities say Hamilton lived on Chaslyn Drive. Habersham County Deputy Coroner Ken Franklin says his cause of death was not immediately known and that’s why the GBI was called in to assist with the investigation.

“Agents and investigators worked through the night conducting interviews and processing the death scene in effort to determine what led to Hamilton’s death,” a press release from the GBI states. “On Saturday, December 24, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner’s Office performed Hamilton’s autopsy. Preliminary findings are that Hamilton’s death was due to natural causes.”
