The GBI arrested a Mt. Airy man and charged him with three counts of child sexual exploitation. Brenton Lee Lawson, 36, was arrested Thursday for allegedly possessing child pornography.
On February 25, members of the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit and Habersham County Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at Lawson’s residence. The search was part of an ongoing investigation into his internet activity. The GBI launched the probe on a tip from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children.
In addition to the child pornography charges, agents charged Lawson with possession of methamphetamine and drug-related objects. He was booked into the Habersham County jail.
This investigation is part of an ongoing effort by the GBI to identify those involved in the child pornography trade and the online sexual exploitation of children.
Anyone with information about this case or any other child exploitation cases is asked to contact the GBI CEACC Unit at 404-270-8870.
