The Habersham County Landfill is adjusting its hours of operation beginning next month.
Starting November 6, the landfill will open an hour and a half later each day and stay open thirty minutes longer on Saturdays. The new hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
This change effectively cuts six hours of operating time from the landfill’s current weekly schedule.
“The decision to adjust the operating hours has been made to better align with the needs of our community and to improve the overall efficiency of our waste management operations,” Interim Solid Waste Director Johnnie Vickers says in a press release.
The move is expected to save the county money.
Habersham County has notified its commercial customers of the adjusted hours and wants residents to take note of the changes as well.
Reminder: The Habersham County Landfill, and all Habersham County Government offices, will be closed on Monday, October 9, in observance of Columbus Day.
