Residents of Habersham County will soon have access to free wood chips and mulch, courtesy of the Habersham County Landfill, according to Public Information Officer Ashlyn Brady.
Beginning Monday, May 5, 2025, the landfill will provide the material at no cost to the public.
Residents can collect the free material Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The wood chips and mulch will be available for pickup at the Habersham County Landfill, located at 4900 Dicks Hill Parkway in Mt. Airy.
This is the only site where the wood chips and mulch can be picked up. Those who require help loading the material must sign a waiver at the landfill’s scale house before assistance is provided.
For more information or questions about the program, the public is encouraged to contact the Habersham County Landfill at 706-839-0242.
