Habersham County Commission Chair Stacy Hall’s message to the community

Habersham County is now under a state of emergency. The county commission on Saturday unanimously approved a resolution declaring a public health emergency in the county due to COVID-19. Commission Chair Stacy Hall addressed their decision in a videotaped message to the community.

The declaration was made one day after the Georgia Department of Public Health reported, then removed the county from its list of counties with confirmed cases of the deadly virus.

Despite the change in the DPH report – as of 7 p.m. March 28 there are still no reported confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Habersham County – commissioners went ahead and issued an order urging residents to shelter in place for the next 14 days.

The emergency order is in effect March 29-April 11, 2020.
