The rainy weather left lots of excited parade goers high and dry this evening in Baldwin. The city, which played host this year to the county’s annual Christmas Parade, started the parade early with little fanfare.
Mayor Jerry Neace says the decision to run before the scheduled 6 p.m. start time was made because of the weather.
“The rain moved in faster than what anybody expected,” he says. “When it started raining we got everybody that was going to run, to go.”
While the rain and early start time kept lots of parade goers at bay, those that did get to see it got a treat.
“It was very nice, had some wonderful floats,” Neace says. “Everybody participated with the lights and just really decorated their floats for the season.”
Earlier in the day visitors to Baldwin got a chance to enjoy the city’s Christmas Village Festival complete with crafts, food, games and entertainment.
The evening was capped off with a tree lighting at Mitchell Gailey Park.
