Habersham Class of 2020 invited to dance this weekend in Dawsonville

Their prom was canceled so, now, family and friends of the Habersham Central High School Class of 2020 are hosting a dance for them. They will hold a formal dance for the seniors this Saturday, July 25, 2020, from 7-10 p.m.

Organizers tell Now Habersham that the dance is not affiliated with the school system in any way. It will be held at Lilly Creek Farm located at 1654 Auraria Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

Lilly Creek Farm is a privately-owned venue. The owners have hosted proms for neighboring counties since so many school systems canceled due to COVID-19. Students from Dawson and Lumpkin counties hosted their prom events at Lilly Creek this summer and White County and Forsyth Counties are planning to host their proms there later in the season, according to event organizers.

Lilly Creek is a beautiful venue with plenty of room for social distancing, both inside and outside. Hand sanitizing stations will be provided and there will be outdoor seating and cornhole boards as well as an indoor dance floor with air conditioning.

A photographer, Yasmine Adams with Y Studio Photography, will be available starting at 5 p.m. for any couples or groups who may want professional photos taken before the dance. The photographer will also take photos during the dance. All photos will be available for purchase online after the event. There will also be a fun photo booth available for more candids and keepsakes.

Parents are welcome to come to the dance, visit, and help chaperone.

The privately-held venue has hosted several dances for area seniors whose proms were canceled due to COVID-19. (Facebook)

Admission is free, but organizers say donations will be greatly appreciated to help Lilly Creek cover the costs associated with the dance.

Visit Lilly Creek on Facebook to see more photos of the venue and also visit Habersham Senior Dance on Facebook for more details and information about donating.

“We recognize that due to health concerns, some may not feel comfortable participating in this event,” organizers say. “For those who would like to attend, all attempts will be made to keep the evening safe, classy, and fun. We would love to see you there!”
