Just days before Veterans Day, Habersham Central High School Raiders recognized area veterans Friday night just before kickoff of the last home game of the season.
Members of the area’s veterans organizations, such as the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Disabled American Veterans, attended the tribute to American veterans. They took the field in the end zone in the northwest corner of the stadium.
The announcer asked the veterans on the field to wave to the crowd and those in the stadium to stand as he read off each branch of service. The Raider JROTC Color Guard presented the colors as the Band of Blue seniors played the National Anthem.
It was a fitting tribute to area veterans given that Veterans Day is Monday, November 11. Over the next week, several organizations will be conducting ceremonies to recognize veterans.
Return to Now Habersham on Tuesday, November 5, to see a schedule of events that will be recognizing veterans around Northeast Georgia.
