Georgia’s high school seniors are now finishing up their last month of school. Still stuck at home due to the pandemic, they’ll finish out their classes online. When those classes end on May 22 their academics are done but Habersham County 12th graders will still get to enjoy some long-delayed senior year fun.
The Habersham Central High School administration and faculty have planned several activities leading up to graduation day on July 31. Planned events include a Senior Cookout, Prom, Senior Honors Day, and Senior Scholarship Night.
“All the activities listed are a result of a virtual meeting I had with 16 senior representatives last week,” explains HCHS principal Jonathan Stribling. “The seniors wanted a prom and they also wanted a casual night together.”
All of the activities are subject to cancellation depending on the situation with COVID-19, but Stribling says he is hopeful the events will go off as planned.
“The seniors’ input could be summarized by saying that they just want time to hang out together,” he says. “We look forward to providing that time and celebrating with the Class of 2020.”
