Habersham County public school students will have a short day tomorrow. School Superintendent Matthew Cooper announced late this evening county schools will operate on a 2 hour early release Friday in anticipation of earlier-than-expected snowfall connected to Winter Storm Helena.

School administrators made their decision after Governor Nathan Deal’s office announced he will declare a state of emergency, effective noon Friday, for 78 Georgia counties in the path of the storm.

White and Rabun County schools are also operating on a 2 hour early release Friday.
