Habersham County Commissioners recognized paramedic Jessica Chambers for her outstanding patient care and advocacy during its commission meeting on Monday, April 21. Chambers’ responded to a recent medical emergency that helped save a resident’s life.
On March 16, 2025, Med 9 responded to a call involving an elderly woman who reported symptoms of a possible stroke, including left-sided weakness and slurred speech. Although the patient initially declined transport to the hospital, Chambers and her team carefully explained the risks of not receiving immediate medical evaluation. Their efforts successfully convinced the patient to accept transport.
Upon arrival at the Northeast Georgia Health System’s Habersham campus, a stroke was confirmed, and the patient received treatment before being safely discharged.
Chambers’ dedication was highlighted by Tinnelle Davey, Performance Improvement Coordinator at NGHS-H, who praised her for exceptional care and thorough documentation. “Jessica took the time to educate the patient about potential risks and the importance of evaluation. During transport, she reassessed continuously using the BE-FAST method. Her documentation was outstanding,” Davey said.

A former student of his at North Georgia Technical College, Chambers has since become a Paramedic, Field Training Officer, EMS Instructor, firefighter, and a devoted wife and mother.
“Jessica represents the very best of what it means to serve in emergency services,” Adams said.
Chambers’ actions are a reminder of the vital role first responders play in educating patients and ensuring timely medical care.
