HabCo BOE will hold special election for District 4 seat

The Habersham County Board of Education will hold a special election this November for the Habersham County Board of Education District 4 seat.

The Habersham County Elections Office has announced qualifying for the Habersham County BOE District 4 seat. Qualifying will begin on Monday, August 5, and continue through Friday, August 9.

The hours of qualifying will be Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On Friday, August 9, hours for qualifying will be 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The qualifying fee will be $162.

It will be an at-large election for the Habersham County Board of Education District 4 seat. It will be held during the General Election on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

The BOE District 4 seat was vacated by Board member Kristie Dover with her resignation on February 9, 2024.

The seat will have approximately 2 years, 1 month, and approximately 18 days left in its term, beginning November 13, 2024 and runs through December 31, 2026. The seat is currently held by appointee Darlene Hudson.

Eligible candidates can qualify at the Habersham County Elections & Voter Registration Office, 403 Habersham County Shopping Center, Cornelia, Georgia 30531.

The deadline to register to vote for the November 5, 2024 election is October 7, 2024.
