A strong thunderstorm made its way across parts of extreme northeast Georgia on Saturday. The storm whipped through the northern end of Habersham County around 6 p.m. dumping heavy rain and pea-sized hail around the Clarkesville and Batesville areas.
A section of GA 197 North was temporarily closed after wind knocked a tree onto power lines north of Mark of the Potter. Habersham EMC reported scattered power outages in Habersham and Rabun counties.
The extended forecast for Northeast Georgia and the western Carolinas calls for mostly sunny skies on Sunday. There’s a 40% chance of showers and afternoon thunderstorms on Monday. Highs will be in the upper 80s both days.
Tuesday through Friday will be mostly sunny with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.
