Just days after de-committing from South Carolina, Rabun County’s 5-star QB, considered by many to be the prize pick of the Class of 2022, committed to UGA. He announced his decision via Twitter on Thursday afternoon.

Dawg Nation bills it as one of the University of Georgia’s “most stunning recruiting victories in years.”
Stockton initially chose South Carolina over UGA last summer, but that changed when Will Muschamp was fired, and Mike Bobo left to become offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Auburn. Stockton re-opened his recruitment several days ago and went with UGA.
In an interview with Dawg Nation, Rob Stockton says his son decided on Georgia because of “Comfort and stability and relationships with the staff and just the University of Georgia as a whole.”
I believe there have been only six consensus 5-star QB’s from Georgia since 2000. Gunner Stockton and Brock Vandagriff are two of those. (Others: Lawrence, Fields, Newton, Mills) https://t.co/bn0QzYw4e0

The three-year starter has thrown for 9,518 yards and 122 touchdowns in 40 varsity games with the Wildcats. He’s logged 3,416 rushing yards and 62 TDs on the ground.
In addition to South Carolina and UGA, Stockton fielded offers from 24 other schools, including Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Florida.
