FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after two masked individuals reportedly threatened members of the Cedar Shoals High School football team and brandished a handgun following Thursday night’s game at Flowery Branch High School.

Deputies say the confrontation happened October 30 as the Cedar Shoals team walked from the field to the locker room area. According to investigators, two males wearing black hoodies and face coverings followed the team and confronted players in a nearby parking lot.

Witnesses told investigators the men argued with and threatened members of the Cedar Shoals team. Coaches stepped in to break up the confrontation and urged the individuals to leave. One of the masked individuals then pulled out a handgun, officials say.

An Athens-Clarke County School Police officer began approaching, and the suspects ran. The officer chased them but was unable to locate them. A Hall County K-9 team and school resource officers searched the area, but the suspects were not found.

While authorities say the individuals did not make threats toward Flowery Branch students, law enforcement increased patrols on campus Friday as a precaution.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to contact Hall County investigators at 770-503-3232 or [email protected].
