A truck driver from Lawrenceville could face charges in connection with a wreck that tied up holiday traffic on GA 365 South in Cornelia.
The single-vehicle crash occurred around 5:08 p.m. on Memorial Day. According to the Georgia State Patrol’s preliminary crash report, 26-year-old Diego Alvarez Granados was driving south in a Ford LG Conventional. The truck ran off the highway’s right shoulder near the on-ramp to US 441 in Cornelia.
The box truck traveled back onto GA 365 where it overturned onto its left side, blocking both southbound lanes.

The vehicle was hauling supplies for Classic Tents & Events of Atlanta. Tent supplies spilled onto the highway. Crews had to use a skid steer to clean up the mess.
Southbound traffic was blocked for more than two hours as crews cleared the wreckage and law enforcement investigated the wreck.
Granados sustained suspected minor injuries, according to state troopers. No other injuries were reported.
As of Tuesday afternoon, May 27, GSP had not filed any charges, but agency spokesperson Courtney Lund says that may change once the investigation is complete.
