Anyone interested in discussing U.S. foreign policy in a cordial and non-partisan environment is invited to attend the Great Decisions group, which will begin its 47th year at Piedmont College in January.
The initial organizational meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, in the Alumni Room of the Arrendale Library on the Demorest campus. The meetings usually last about 90 minutes. Discussion of topics will begin at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 16. Meetings will continue at the same time for eight or more weeks, depending on the interests of the participants. The discussions are led by one or more of the group’s participants or by invited guests.
A list of tentative topics for Great Decisions 2018 includes America’s Changing Role in Keeping Peace in the World, Russia’s Foreign Policy, China and America, Foreign Policy and Media, Turkey in Crisis, the U.S. Military Engagement and the World, Democracy in South Africa, Global Health Issues, and other topics of mutual interest to the group.
Anyone interested in purchasing a copy of an eight-chapter briefing book covering the topics listed above, which has been prepared by the nonpartisan Foreign Policy Association, may send a check made out to Piedmont College for $25.00 per book, including shipping and handling.
