Governor’s Task Force conducts aerial drug search in Habersham

The Governor’s Drug Task Force on Thursday conducted an aerial sweep of Habersham County, searching for marijuana. State and local public safety officials confirmed the search, although details were not readily available.

The Governor’s Task Force/Drug Suppression (GTF) is made up of six state agencies including the Georgia State Patrol and National Guard and two federal agencies. It’s funded through the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

The primary role of the task force is to eradicate domestic marijuana within the State of Georgia and to gather intelligence relating to its manufacture and cultivation.
