Faith leaders from across Georgia joined Gov. Brian Kemp and other top elected state officials this morning at a prayer service in Atlanta.
The prayer service, which was held in the rotunda of the State Capitol, was closed to the public due to social distancing. It was streamed live on the governor’s Facebook page.
Kemp called on all Georgians and people of faith to pray for the state’s frontline healthcare workers, first responders, law enforcement, business owners, local leaders, and fellow Georgians “as we continue the important work of fighting COVID-19 and safely reopening our state.”
The senior pastor from Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville, Dr. Tom Smiley, was among the fourteen faith leaders who were asked to participate.
