A pair of Lady Raiders were named BLITZ Players of the Year, with senior Lainey Gosnell taking her second straight in volleyball, and sophomore Paige Cook earning co-Player of the Year honors in softball.
Gosnell had a solid year, leading Habersham Central to a Sweet 16 appearance after taking region runner-up to close the regular season. Gosnell, an Appalchian State basketball commit, tallied 342 kills, 244 digs, 112 solo blocks and 31 aces on the year. She logged an 89% serve/receive rate.
For Cook, as just a sophomore, she has just about mastered high school softball. Cook hit .476 with six homeruns and 25 RBI for the Lady Raiders. She added nine doubles, a triple and scored 23 runs, swiping 11 bases in the process. Her defensive prowess also turned heads (.904 fielding percentage). Cook is a Mississippi State softball commit, making the decision as just a freshman. She shares the BLITZ Player of the Year Award with Stephens County sophomore pitcher Emma Whitfield.
