Author Amanda Herron and illustrator Carole Young McCollum of the new children’s book Goodnight Habersham, will be autographing copies at its November release event.
“This is my first published book and Carole and I have been working on it for about three years,” states Herron.
Herron drew inspiration from a variety of books and her years as a teacher to complete this work.
“I was definitely inspired by Goodnight Moon as well as another book by Lesley Crawford Costner called Goodnight Acadiana, which celebrates the natural beauty of South Louisiana” Herron says.
She hopes the book will be a positive thing for children in the county and show them the variety of beauty it possesses.
“I have always thought Habersham County was such a beautiful place, geographically and culturally, and the more I traveled the more I realized how blessed I was to have roots here.” Herron adds “I wanted something small children could connect with and develop a love for the area.”
The book signing will take place at Stoney’s restaurant on November 18, from 2 – 5 pm.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase for $14, cash only.
