The Georgia Mountains Regional Commission (GMRC) is planning a public forum for Rabun County citizens to provide input and ask questions about the county’s joint comprehensive plan.
GMRC is assisting Rabun County and the municipalities of Clayton, Dillard, Mountains City, Sky Valley, Tallulah Falls, and Tiger with the update of their joint Comprehensive Plan, the State required document that helps shape and coordinate local work programs for communities.
The event will be an open house public forum on Tuesday, August 27, in the Rabun County Civic Center. During this time, visitors can view at their own pace a series of stations and displays offering information and images on topics ranging from development types, land use, and preliminary lists of priorities raised during the public survey process.
Participants will be asked to share their thoughts and questions at each station they choose to visit. People are invited to visit at any point during the time listed, and they may stay as briefly or as long as they desire.
GMRC staff will be on hand to answer any questions and to receive additional comments. Information learned from these events will contribute to the update of the local plans, which should be available for public comment in early September.
For any questions about the document or the process, please contact Adam Hazell at GMRC at ahazell@gmrc.ga.gov or by telephone at 770-538-2626.
The public forum will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 27 in the Rabun County Civic Center located at 201 West Savannah Street in Clayton.
