Glow in the Park Glow Run returns to Clarkesville

Ready. Set. Glow! The 2nd Annual Glow in the Park: Clarkesville Glow Run 5k is scheduled for Saturday, October 21, 2017, in Sam Pitts Park.

The start and end of the race will be at Pitts Park.  Registration will start at 6:30pm, with a one-loop fun run beginning at 7:30 and the 5K race stepping off at 8 p.m.

The 3.1-mile race, led by AAA Race Services, will travel through downtown Clarkesville on Washington Street, loop back on Jefferson Street and cross to Highway 197 North to Beaver Dam road before heading back to Pitts Park.

The event is sponsored by the Clarkesville Kiwanis Club in partnership with Clarkesville Main Street. All proceeds from the race will go to Kiwanis Club projects that benefit the children of Habersham County.

Hmm…what to wear?

Runners and walkers are encouraged to show up wearing their best and brightest outfits!  “For this run,” says Clarkesville Kiwanis Club member Glenda Smith, “it’s not all about how fast you are – it’s about having fun for a good cause.”

A Glow Gear station will be available at the event for runners and spectators to purchase additional luminescent accessories.  A black light tent and glow face-paint kiosk will serve as additional event attractions.

A local DJ will be providing high-energy music at the start and end of the race.  All participants are invited to stay for the After-Glow Party where dance music and awards will be presented to the1st/2nd male and female finishers in eight age categories as well as the participant with the best “glow wear.”

Runners and walkers can register at www.active.com, www.clarkesvillega.com  or by visiting Clarkesville City Hall for applications. All participants who register by October 10th are guaranteed a race t-shirt and a discounted rate of $25 for the 5K.  Registrations received beyond October 10th are $30.  The one loop fun run is $15.
