Glover Lee Carpenter

Glover Lee Carpenter, age 91, of Cornelia, Georgia, went to Glory to meet his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 5, 2018.

Mr. Carpenter was born on August 10, 1926, in Cornelia, Georgia, to the late William Paul and Essie Nora Flannagan Carpenter. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Elouise Loudermilk Carpenter; brothers: Bill, Clifford, and Phillip Carpenter; sisters: Louise Sanders, Dorothy Bramlett, and Maria Carpenter; and grandson, Jonas Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter was a United States Navy Veteran having proudly served his country during World War II. He retired from General Dynamics in Cleveland, Ohio with 20 years of loyal and dedicated service. After moving to Georgia, he was associated with several businesses, including working at Ethicon for 8 years. After retirement, he and Elouise enjoyed traveling and visiting family. Lee was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church. He loved God, family, and life.

Survivors include his daughter, Susan of Cornelia; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Shirley of Sun City, Arizona and Rodney and Jane of Baldwin; brother and sister-in-law, James M. and Joan Carpenter of Union Point; five grandchildren and spouses: Kevin and Melissa, Michele and David, Kellie and Jock, Alton and Genevieve, and Travis Vinson; seventeen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Level Grove Cemetery with Rev. Austin Kelley officiating. Military honors will be provided by Habersham County American Legion Post #84, Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, and Rabun County DAV Chapter #15.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, June 8, 2018, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
