Gloria “Nanny” Garrison Harrison, age 81 of Gainesville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at her residence.
Born in Cornelia, on October 28, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Emory and Louvenia Payne Garrison. Gloria graduated from South Habersham in 1951 and then was married to her high school sweetheart, Lloyd Edward Harrison, in 1952. During their 63 plus years of marriage, they welcomed two children into their home. Those children remember her as a kindhearted mother who took great pride in being a homemaker and a wife.
Gloria enjoyed gardening and often spent hours planting flowers. She was also very talented at drawing and was extremely passionate about her family. She also enjoyed sharing her love for the Lord with her family, and was certain of her faith, stating “We will all see each other again.”
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Violet Colston, Pearle Brewer, Irene Mason, Harriett Grier and Christine Duncan; brothers, Vandiver Garrison, Rev. Clyde Garrison and Erford Garrison; grandchild, Matthew Harrison.
Surviving are husband, Lloyd Edward Harrison of Gainesville; children, Steve (Diane) Harrison of Toccoa and Sheila Ross of Gainesville; brother, Wesley (Nell) Garrison of Canton; four grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 3:30 pm Thursday, November 12, 2015, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Mark Garrison officiating. Interment will follow in Garrison Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
