Glenn Milton Porter, age 79, of Alto, Georgia, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024.
Mr. Porter was born on September 22, 1944, in Hall County, Georgia, to the late Glenn Rufus Porter and Louise Coker Porter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Mangrum, Kathy Lovell, and Patricia Porter; brothers, Ronnie Porter and Alfred Porter.
Mr. Porter was of the Christian Faith. Glenn had worked for Orbit Manufacturing for a number of years as a sewing machine Mechanic. He then retired from Fieldale Farms, where he had served as a truck driver for 20 years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Nellie Jones Porter, of Alto; son and daughter-in-law Terry and Elizabeth Porter, of Cornelia; daughter Sandy Porter, of Alto; grandchildren Claire Dean and Sarah Daniels; six great-grandchildren; sisters Teresa Johnson, of Oregon; Joyce Nicks, of Gainesville; brothers Paul Porter, of Gainesville; and Frankie Porter, of Gainesville.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel. Interment will follow in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the funeral home.
