GHSA shuts down high school sports, activities through end of month

GHSA Executive Director Dr. Robin Hines

Georgia high school activities and sports, including practices, are on hold following Governor Brian Kemp’s announcement on March 16 that the state’s public schools must remain closed at least through the end of March.

“The safety of our student athletes and all of those that they come in contact with is our top priority,” said Dr. Robin Hines, Executive Director of the Georgia High School Association.

The GHSA already had suspended its State Literary competitions and recommended that member schools suspend spring sports activities.

Georgia’s Schools are to remain closed through at least March 31. Hines said “we will follow the guidance available to us at that time” in regard to when sports and activities may resume.
