(Cleveland)- It’s back to normal operation for most of Northeast Georgia after a weekend winter storm that hit some counties hard. White County we escaped the brunt of the storm, with less snow and wind than forecasters had predicted. Habersham, too, escaped relatively unscathed. With what we did get things were able to move forward quickly because of the planning and dedicated efforts of local and state officials.
From road crews to police and fire departments the planning and staffing efforts paid off.
White County Schools were back on session Monday. Dr. Jeff Wilson, Superintendent of Schools after traveling numerous county roads Sunday afternoon said, with a few exceptions, roads are in good shape.
Union and Gilmer County schools, along with Tallulah Falls School operated on a two-hour delay Monday. Habersham and Rabun County Schools were closed for students due to lingering ice and snow on mostly secondary roads.
