Maintenance work to affect north and southbound lanes starting July 6th
The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is set to begin maintenance work on I-985 that will require lane closures between Hall County and Gwinnett. The work will affect both north and southbound lanes over the next several months.
Crews will be replacing damaged concrete slabs from the 85/I-985 interchange in Buford, north to Lula.
Nighttime lane closures are scheduled to begin Wednesday, July 6 in the northbound lanes of I-985 between Flowery Branch and Gainesville from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
“Daytime lane closures will begin on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the interchange of 85/I-985,” says Dana Garrison Maintenance Engineer with GDOT.
Work is expected to take five months to complete, weather permitting.
The final portion in Hall County located between Queen City Parkway and US 129/State Route 11, is planned for late August 2016.
