Georgie Eugenie Burrell, age 92 of Mt. Airy, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 29, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Born on the family farm on January 25, 1928, in Mt. Airy, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Harold James & Martha Bertha Schmidt Smith. Eugenie started her career with LeTourneau Manufacturing in Toccoa, then as a personal secretary with Lumite/Chicopee Manufacturing. She married Billy Burrell on November 25, 1955. Alongside her husband, they served together in the ministry at various churches throughout this area for over 65 years. Eugenie also served as a Sunday School teacher for many years, was involved with the Ladies Ministry, and was an active member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Louise Holcomb & Catherine Cantrell.
Survivors include her loving husband of over 65 years, Rev. Billy Burrell; daughter, Neysa Joy Burrell; sisters, Helen Smith & Lenora Smith, all of Mt. Airy, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Boyd & Floy Smith of Toccoa, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, & friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2020, at the Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Greg Burrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazel Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Raymond Payne officiating at the graveside.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour on Monday.
