Georgia voters have surpassed the 2.9 million mark for total turnout in the November 5th Presidential Election. According to the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office, voters broke the turnout record Monday. Over 40% of all active voters in the state have now voted.
The current statewide turnout includes 2,739,787 early in-person voters, a record-breaking number for this point in the early voting period. In comparison, previous years saw significantly lower early voting turnout on day fifteen: 1,199,424 in 2018, 1,979,963 in 2020, and 1,640,652 in 2022.
“Georgia voters know we’ve made it easy to cast a ballot. It’s really that simple,” stated Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. He emphasized the state’s efforts over the past four years to prepare for this election, including expanding early voting days and investing in infrastructure.
While reports of long lines were minimal statewide, some voters in metro areas reported waiting over 30 minutes at popular voting locations. Early voting is expected to continue increasing this final week, leading up to Friday’s end of the early voting period.
Voters can find early voting locations and hours on the Secretary of State’s My Voter Page.
In addition to early voting, 177,192 absentee ballots have been cast. However, the period to request an absentee ballot has now closed. Voters who have not requested an absentee ballot must vote early in person or on election day.
