The Georgia Board of Regents is expected to review a plan to repair and replace parts of Sanford Stadium during a meeting today.
The project will make improvements to the concrete structure under the stadium’s football field. The structure, built in 1929, allows for Tanyard Creek to flow under the stadium and contains a major sewer line that supports a significant portion of Athens, a line that will be enlarged.
According to the Athens Banner Herald, The University of Georgia and Athens Clarke County might share the estimated $12 million cost.
