The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced upcoming bridge repair work that will impact traffic on GA 17 southbound at milepost 16 in Franklin County.
Beginning Monday, June 2, GDOT maintenance crews will begin approach slab repairs on the bridge over Jones Street, requiring continuous single-lane closures in the area.
According to GDOT District 1 Communications Officer Nathan Johnston, crews will begin the project by installing barrier walls along the southbound side of GA 17. These barriers will remain in place for the duration of the work, resulting in 24-hour lane restrictions.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and are strongly urged to use caution while traveling through the construction zone. GDOT will have advance warning signs and traffic control measures in place to help guide drivers safely through the area.
Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes if possible and allow extra travel time during the project period.
