Gang charges added against 3 accused of killing, assaulting Toccoa teens

The Stephens County Grand Jury added the charges after hearing new testimony

On Tuesday, August 20, the Stephens County Grand Jury was asked to consider new testimony in the ongoing investigation of a murder and aggravated assault, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

After hearing the testimony, jurors handed down additional indictments against three suspects charged in connection with shootings that occurred in Toccoa during the summer of 2018.

Kentavious Broudmain Walker, 22, Demetrius Sanchez Smith, 30, and Ty’Jai Trammel, 24, all of Toccoa, were charged in the shooting death of 18-year-old Keshon Green. Police found him lying dead on the side of the road in the 100 block of South Alexander Street last August. He’d been shot in the head.

Another Toccoa teen, 18-year-old Spencer Reason, was shot multiple times and wounded in a separate incident on Prather’s Bridge Road in July.

Walker and Samantha George, 18, were charged with aggravated assault in that case.

Samantha George and Kentavious Walker are accused of shooting and wounding 18-year-old Spencer Reason of Toccoa.

“Through continued investigation, it was determined that the crimes committed in these two cases were associated with criminal street gang activity,” says GBI spokesperson Nelly Miles. She says because of the new evidence, the case was again presented to the Grand Jury.

Walker is now charged with malice murder, felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of a firearm during the commission of a felony and 24 counts of violation of the Street Gang Terrorism And Prevention Act.

Smith is charged with malice murder, felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of a firearm during the commission of a felony and 22 counts of violation of the Street Gang Terrorism And Prevention Act.

George is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and 3 counts of violation of the Street Gang Terrorism And Prevention Act.

Walker and Smith were already in custody and will remain in custody, Miles says. George was arrested on August 21 during a drug bust in Franklin County.
