GBI investigators are waiting on autopsy results to determine what killed a 3-month-old boy.
On June 28, Toccoa police found the infant unresponsive in an apartment at Regency Inn on West Currahee Street. Officers had been called to the location to check on the child, says Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize.
Police officers performed CPR until medics arrived. An ambulance transported the baby to Stephens County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
After speaking with the boy’s mother and witnesses, Toccoa police investigators asked the GBI to assist with their investigation.
“The case is pending official autopsy results,” GBI Public Affairs Director Nelly Miles tells Now Habersham.
According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, the case remains active and ongoing.
